Well, today i met our new market manager for D&D. We tend to go through market managers like we do regular managers. We've gone through four managers and four market managers since I've started working which is going on a year and a half now.
When i first started working, the manager was Lori and i guess the market manager was someone named Melissa. Shortly after our manager was Mary and i don't know who the market manager was. Then we had Fran with Scott as our market manager. Then Scott moved elsewhere and we got Michael. Then Kerri became the manager and we just got a new market manager this past week.
Today was the first day i met him. It was about 4:30 when he walked in. I just thought he was a customer so i was going to ask him what i could get for him. Then he looked at our coffee wall and moved stuff around then started to talk to Ryan (person i was working with). He asked who else was working and i was like umm me, still a little confused. Then he introduced himself and shook my hand. I think his name is Tom but i didn't actually hear him.
Well, he asked us what we do besides work, where we go to school, what we're studying, if we like working at D&D and if we would like to make it a career.
I was like "uh, yeah no."
Ryan was like "uh, maybe".
Tom said "why not?" he looked shocked.
Me- "uh, because i would like to pursue my interests."
He then continued to ask us about working and what we were doing right there and then. He asked us a lot of questions actually. He even told us some things he would like us to do. He told us he would be there pretty much everyday and he'll see us around.
He eventually left. When he did, Ryan and I burst out laughing. Make D&D a career, hell no. Ryan's been there 2 in a half years, me 1 in a half and we both work too much for what we're getting paid. Customers suck, cleaning peoples shit sucks (i mean literally), and it can be too stressful. The upside is some of the people I work with are cool but besides that it sucks.
However, even know Tom is knew and i believe just finished his training he seems like he knows what he is doing. Scott sometimes messed up big time and Michael looked like a child molester and didn't do diddly squat!
So, lets see how long this guy is going to last.
I'll keep you all updated.
