On Saturday i was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. We were so busy at work that we hardly had time to breathe. When i first walked into work i followed my usual routine. Hang my purse up, fix my hair and make sure my uniform is all set; then wash my hands and check the schedule for any changes or announcements. When i got to this part of my routine i had barely anytime to check the schedule. I noticed that there was a piece of paper on the bulletin board but i didn't have time to read it.
A couple hours into my shift, at a point where there weren't as many customers, Katrina (assistant manager) said "who ever works on Sundays..." but i happened to be out of earshot. I tried to listen as i was doing whatever i was doing but all i got out of that was "just make sure you remember ok?". I then made a mental note to ask Katrina what she said later on. Seconds later we got slammed again otherwise i would have asked her to repeat what she just said.
Later on, i had a minute so i started reading that important notice on the bulletin board. One of my fellow employees called my name, needing my help. I didn't finish reading it and the part i did read, i wasn't able to register what it said.
By the time i was able to leave work it was 12:30, about a half an hour over the time i was scheduled. Completely stressed out and looking forward to be leaving, i forgot to ask someone what i was supposed to remember for Sunday.
Now, on Sundays, i open with one other person at 6, so its important that I'm there. That night i went to bed not knowing whatever it was that i was supposed to know.
A little before the time i was supposed to get up i had this crazy dream. I was in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts. I was getting out of my car when i saw Katrina in the doorway with her keys in one hand and a phone in the other. She was yelling at me and telling me i was late. I was very confused and wondering how the hell i could be late. I woke up seconds later. About 30 seconds after that, the phone rang.
I ran down the stairs and picked up the phone. Caller ID said it was Dunkin Donuts.
"Hello?"
"Hi, can i speak with Nicole?" It was Jenn.
"This is her."
"Where are you?"
"What do you mean? It's only a little after 5."
"No, it's after 6."
"No, it's after 5." I was staring at the clock and it very clearly said it was after 5.
"Did you set your clocks forward?"
Gasp, choke, cough, "Noooooooooooooooooooooooo".
"Yeah, well I'm here all by myself so just get her as soon as you can."
"Oh, my gosh, OK, I'll be right there."
I was about 30 minutes late that day. Guess what, no one else was late that day either because everyone got the memo, except for me.
I completely forgot to set the clocks forward because i didn't even think of it. Dad was on his trip still and Ashley was with mom at her house. I was at dad's house by myself with no one to remind me or mention it to me.
Needless to say, it was a lesson learned and i won't be doing that again!

You're not a *real* employee until you've fucked up and slept the extra hour on daylight savings time.
We've all done it once.
Once. ;)
LOL!! been there done that....and it was when I was at school running the horseback riding program. The poor horses could not figure out why the grain bin still had a lid on it and there was no hay. Only about $500 damages in chewed wood and holes kicked in doors. hehehheeh, I believe I said to myself, "Won't be doing that again!"
