I'm not sure how to describe what i am about to tell you. It's one of those things that catches your attention for a moment and makes you think it's some kind of coincidence. That is until it happens again, and again and again. The first time, it made me laugh. The second time i was a little weirded out. The third time i was convinced i am either on something, crazy, becoming paranoid or it's one hell of a sign. A huge indicator that i need to get a life...one that does not involve consuming hours of television.
Ok,i bet you're extremely confused right now, but i bet you're intrigued. Without any further delay or ramblings, i shall get on with my story.
It all started yesterday evening, around 10 or 11, maybe. I couldn't sleep. It could have something to do with the typhoon that has so graciously destroyed my drive way, drowned my backyard and has frequently made me look like a drowned rat at the most convenient of times.
Moving on, I was flipping through the 100 plus channels looking for something to find somewhat amusing or entertaining. There usually isn't much on at that time of night. Usually just reality shows and random crappy movies. Either that or they play the same movies over and over again. For example, i believe Troy is on every weekend and sometimes during the week. The Die Hard movies are on almost everyday day somewhere between 2 and 6. I love those movies, but i would like a change once in a while, you know?
Anyways, i happened to flip to the Disney channel and a movie starring Hillary Duff was starting. I'm not a huge fan but I was bored. What the heck? Let's watch The Perfect Man.
I watched about 20 minutes and i was incredibly bored. The story line basically goes like this; Holly is a teenager who hates moving every time her mother gets her heart broken. So after they move to New York she decides to make up a perfect man for her mother. Now her friend that is helping her has this Uncle played by Chris North (Detective Mike Logan on Law & Order: Criminal Intent) who gives her advice on making women happy. During one of the scenes he is talking on the phone about flowers. He says that a rose is the perfect flower, something like that. Holly tells him he's wrong and says with a wink "well, what do i know."
Soon after i flipped the channel and happened to come across Sex in the City. Guess who was in this episode? Oh, but Chris North. He plays Mr. Big on that show. Within minutes of watching this one, he says a very familiar line, "well, what do i know?". That caught my attention indeed. How weird is it that i not only saw him twice in one night but he said the same exact line pertaining to two different things in completely different movies?
It gets weirder. Today, when i came home, i decided to turn on the TV and see what's on. After some major flipping i found The Glass House, starring Leelee Sobieski, Diane Lane and Stellan SkarsgÄrd. Guess who played one of the minor roles in the first 10 minutes of the film? Yep, Chris North.
Don't worry, there's more. Today, as i was watching tv and eating dinner, i was watching Pride and Prejudice, with Keira Knightly, Donald Sutherland and Judi Dench. Immediately after the movie was over, i flipped. Guess what i came across? A james bond movie with Judi dench in it.
I'm sure some of you know who Jason Bateman is, right? Well, i didn't until very recently. Last week, i saw the movie The Kingdom with him in it. I liked him so much i decided to see who he was. Then i realized that i had recently seen him in the movie Juno. Well, today around the time i was watching the Glass House and going to soon be watching Pride and Prejudice, i saw the trailer for Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, which he is in.
Is anyone getting this? Now, the three movies i listed that Jason Bateman is in, are his recent projects. So, that makes sense that i have seen so much of him. Judi Dench is a well-known and loved actress, again makes sense. Chris North? Not so much. I mean sure he's big in Law and Order, but to see him in three different things within two days is freakin weird. It's all weird actually. To see three different actors in multiple films within a couple hours of each other is crazy!!!
Has anyone experienced this before? Where they just keep seeing the same actor over and over again when normally you wouldn't? I mean, like i said, the same movies are always playing on TV. So, the last two days they decided to play different movies on all the channels that just happened to have the same actors in it?
I'm sure there is a word for this, besides paranoia. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Feel free to enlighten!!
