And the ipod goes to......
ok, so since all of you know that the Griffith family and the DuPont family and everyone associated with them have enough curses and bad luck to last a hundred lifetimes right? Well, the other day there was this block party thing that my cluster group's peer advisor took us to. It basically was the faculty and staff from this building trying to get us to see where certain services like cash services, career services...so on were located by bribing us with candy, food and free stuff! Well, it worked! We went to every office/station, got free pens, informational packets, lollipops and a free t-shirt while getting this little booklet stamped by each person at these offices. At the end we put our name on it and put it into a raffle box. You could either win an ipod or a wii or however you spell that new video game thing. I don't know exactly what the other prizes were because i knew i wasn't going to win. Let me tell you, i recently discovered that i don't know everything and miracles really do happen! I got a call over the weekend saying that i won the ipod! Yeah! I finally one something good! I never win anything, but now i have. This is so exciting. It's one of those 1 GB mini things but hey, i didn't have to pay a 100 dollars to get the mini ipod so i consider myself darn lucky. I also am loving this whole now-that-i'm-in-college-my-luck-has-hopefully-changed thing! Yeah! i'm loving it whole bunches!!!!!

WOOHOO!!! ya got the prize... verra cool :) I have a little tale that dove tails with that. You can ask Auntie Mary too since she was there.
Mary came to visit for a weekend when I was at college(I lived on campus....it's a WHOLE different ball of wax lemme tell ya...but I digress.) It was just before we broke for the summer since I remember it being like 4MILLION degrees and we had been outside all day and were SOOOO freakin thirsty I was going to suck on the backend of a bee(I swear!) being a college student I had absolutely zilch in the way of cash but we DID manage to scrape up enough dimes and nickles(no quarters for us no sireee bob!)to get ONE can of luciously cool and breathtakingly sweet Coca-Cola, nice and cold from the vending machine.
So we popped in the change smiling at the tinkly sound that heralded our eppervescent relief from thirst.
The can tumbled down the inside of the machine and appeared in the little tray at the bottom. I reach in and picked it up thinking, "Dang! this can is awful light..it doesn't feel full." Then Mary tried to "pop the top" and realized it was a fake top...you had to unscrew it to open it, which we did.
Inside that "can" was a note saying, "Congratulations you have just won one of 2 million t-shirts Coca-Cola is giving away free this year." and sure enough, there was a size large bright red t-shirt with the Coca-Cola logo on it.
Mary and I looked at each other and started to scream with that horribly high pitched squeal one gets when their throat is almost totally blocked by a thirst swollen tongue. HAHAHAHHA ohhhhhh we laughed right after we hit the water fountain for that icky chemically tasting water...but it was cool and refreshing...and it was all we had.
So there ya go...I think there is some wierd cosmic rule that kicks in when you start college and you either win or get something really pretty cool.
